Car rental payment methods in Chania: cash, debit or credit card
ChaniaRental.com accepts cash, debit card and credit card for the rental. A credit card is not required, the quote form does not take payment, and no rental security deposit is blocked or pre-authorised.
Quote request is not a checkout
The public quote form is designed to collect the trip details needed to calculate availability and price. It does not ask for a card number and it does not force an online payment before you can ask for a rental price.
That lets you compare dates, vehicle type, insurance and delivery route first. Once availability is confirmed, the written response gives the total and the next step; you can settle the rental by cash, debit card or credit card.
Payment method, deposit and excess are three different things
A no-deposit policy tells you whether a security amount is blocked for the rental. Payment method is separate: ChaniaRental.com accepts cash, debit card and credit card, and a credit card is not required.
For confirmed pay-on-arrival rentals, you can use cash, debit card or credit card. The written quote still records the total and any location or one-way fee before pickup.
What to ask before collection
Before confirming, check the final total, whether any prepayment is required for that booking, the insurance choice and whether location or one-way fees are included. No rental security deposit is blocked.
If you do not have a credit card, that is fine: a credit card is not required. You can pay by cash, debit card or credit card.
Payment, insurance and excess
Choosing CDW or FDW changes insurance liability; it does not automatically change the payment method. CDW is included. Optional FDW is +€12 per rental day and reduces the excess to zero for covered damage, subject to the exclusions in the rental terms.
What changes the final quote
Starting rates are a comparison guide. The confirmed total depends on the exact dates, duration, requested vehicle type and transmission, availability, included insurance or optional full insurance, pickup and return points, and any delivery or one-way logistics that apply to the route.
For the most accurate quote, include:
- Pickup and return dates plus real handover times.
- Exact pickup and return locations.
- Car type and required transmission.
- Driver age and passenger/luggage details where relevant.
- CDW or optional FDW preference.
- Flight, ferry, accommodation or special timing information that affects handover.
Need the answer for your dates?
The public quote form does not require an account, card number or online checkout.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to enter a card number to request a quote?
No. The public quote form asks for trip and contact details, not a payment-card number.
Is online payment required just to check availability?
No. You can request availability and a date-specific total without completing an online checkout.
How can I pay for the rental?
Cash, debit card and credit card are accepted. A credit card is not required, and payment method is separate from deposit and insurance excess.
Can I ask to pay on arrival?
Yes. There is a dedicated pay-on-arrival request page, and the confirmed response should state the applicable arrangement.
Is a credit-card hold blocked?
No rental security deposit is blocked on a credit card.
Is the insurance excess a payment deposit?
No. Insurance excess is potential liability under the chosen cover; it is not the same as a pre-authorisation hold.
Can I ask specifically for debit-card payment?
Yes. Debit card payment is accepted.
Can I ask specifically for cash payment?
Yes. Cash payment is accepted.
Does FDW cost €12 per rental or per day?
FDW is +€12 per rental day.
Where should the final payment arrangement appear?
It should be clear in the written quote or confirmation before collection.
