Useful before you choose the car
Use the published starting rates to compare vehicle types, then request your actual dates. Season, duration, automatic availability, insurance and pickup/return logistics can change the confirmed total.
Current indicative starting rates by car type
The current published ladder starts at €20/day for a small manual car, €23/day for economy manual, €25/day for small automatic, €29/day for compact manual, €40/day for compact automatic, €42/day for family/estate, €45/day for convertible, €49/day for 7-seater, €55/day for automatic SUV and €85/day for a 9-seater.
These are starting rates for comparison, not a guarantee that every date or vehicle is available at that rate. The confirmed quote for the requested dates is the price reference.
What the base rental already includes
Basic CDW and unlimited kilometres are included. No rental security deposit is blocked on a credit card. A second eligible driver and baby seat can be requested free, subject to the relevant eligibility and availability.
Optional FDW is not hidden in the base rate: it is a separate +€12 per rental day if you choose zero excess for covered damage, subject to exclusions.
Why dates and season change car-rental prices
Demand and vehicle availability vary during the season. A small car that is easy to find on one set of dates may be limited on another, and larger or automatic vehicles can tighten more quickly.
Rental duration also changes the total. The minimum rental is two days, and the exact quote should be based on the full pickup-to-return period rather than a rounded estimate.
Why automatic and larger vehicles start higher
Automatic transmission and larger-capacity vehicles are more limited resources than generic small manual cars. The price ladder reflects that difference: automatic compact, family, SUV, 7-seat and 9-seat options carry higher starting rates.
Choose the car around the real trip. Paying less for a mini that cannot fit the luggage is not a saving if it creates a capacity problem at pickup.
How basic cover and full insurance affect the total
CDW is already included. If you select FDW, add €12 for each rental day. FDW reduces the excess to zero for covered damage but does not remove exclusions such as off-road use or excluded vehicle areas.
The no-deposit policy is separate: no rental security deposit is blocked whether you choose CDW or request FDW, subject to the confirmed terms.
Delivery and one-way locations can add logistics cost
Chania Airport, city and supported accommodation points are central to the service. Rethymno and Heraklion Airport/Port can be requested for delivery or one-way routes from the Chania base.
If a location or one-way fee applies, it should be visible in the quote. That is why comparing only daily rates can be misleading for an open-jaw itinerary.
How to compare two Chania rental quotes fairly
Compare the same vehicle size/transmission, the same insurance level, the same dates/times, mileage, deposit policy, second-driver and child-seat costs, and the same pickup/return route.
A transparent total with clear inclusions is more useful than a lower headline rate that adds important items later.
Keep the quote specific. The useful combination is dates + times + exact pickup/return points + car type + driver age + insurance + passenger/luggage details. That gives enough information to check the right vehicle and return a useful date-specific quote instead of a vague “best price” estimate.
